A young couple returning to Maine wanted a home to raise a new family. With deep connections to the area, they were looking for a building language that felt at home in the setting of a former farming field, yet have a “modern twist”. The gravel drive works its way along the edge of the field giving the approach to the house a sense that it has been rooted to the site for years, but a play on window proportions and interior spaces allow for a wonderful connection between the rooms within and the landscape beyond, letting light reach deep within the house.
